Incorporation of a small solar panel, rechargeable battery and LED bulb allows for each birdhouse to light up as the sun sets, evoking the nostalgia of attending evening services. The windows are crafted to reflect a glow of stained glass. With full sun in the day, the birdhouse will remain lit for 6-8 hours at night.
Each building is hand crafted using a combination of new and reclaimed material along with odd bits and pieces we’ve collected. While some resemble others, each is uniquely different from the next in one way or another as each is crafted as an art piece. Each piece also provides a well thought-out home for backyard feathered friends, with easy access for cleaning.
The exterior finishes on the birdhouses are created using various types of paint and weathering techniques. We are able to achieve a detailed board siding look by actually cutting and adhering individual strips of wood to simulate the shiplap siding once used on houses and buildings. Expect the house to continue to weather as an old wooden building does in the natural elements. The roof material is constructed of western red cedar, which holds up well and will not peel or separate like plywood will. Plywood is used for interior structure and pine, cedar, poplar, bass and balsa woods are used on the exterior.
The birdhouses are built specifically to attract bluebirds, chickadees and tufted titmouse.
