Foxon states that the other poems to this work are by Edward Ward and Tom Brown. Tom Brown was an English translator and satirical author. Many of Brown#39;s works remained unpublished at his death and therefore the publication date of many is in question. Jonathan Swift spoke highly of Brown#39;s work and many believe that parts of #39;Gulliver#39;s Travels#39; were influenced by Brown. Ned Ward, or Edward Ward, was also a satirical writer. He is best known for #39;The London Spy#39; a periodical about London life and his many scathing political pamphlets attacking the Whigs and defending the Tory position in parliament.
Printer#39;s error to leaves A4 and A6 has resulted in the text being at an angle.
William Cavendish, 1st Earl of Devonshire, was an English nobleman, politician and courtier.
