Vintage Photograph - American Socialite Letha Smith By The River

Offered here a vintage photo of American socialite Letha Smith on the banks of the River Seine in Paris, with the Notre Dame cathedral behind. c1950s.

Born in 1926 in West Hartford, CT, USA, Letha Smith attended Vassar College in the 1930s and early 1940s before going on to marry ex US Marine Corps major, polo player and publisher, Arthur J Little, in 1946 in Las Vegas. The couple were flown there by Hollywood actor and best man, Tyrone Power, in his private plane.

Letha went on to work for Pan American World Airways as a stewardess, and by the age of 23 had flown 32 Atlantic crossings aboard the Stratocruiser, and visited the British Isles, Europe, South Africa, and Asia.

Letha and Arthur J Little went on to divorce the following year, and Letha then married Captain Curtis Gilbert, a pilot for Pan Am. Following that divorce, and now living in Mayfair, London, she married Donald Gomme, G Plan furniture designer, and finally after that divorce married British journalist Leonard Moseley. Letha doesn#39;t appear to have had any children, but spent her life rubbing shoulders with the great and the good around the world as evidenced in all these wonderful photos which I will be putting in my shop.
